A ‘thank you’ message from Rev’d Ian Hepburn:
Dear friend,
On behalf of the Parochial Church Council and all at Christ Church Walmsley, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your generous donation to the Boiler Appeal. The recent issues with our heating system resulting in the flood and loss of heating late last year came on top of yet another challenge in what has been a difficult season for our much loved church as we have begun to address the church roof repairs and other works needed.
And yet, time and again, our community responds with warmth, generosity, and a deep sense of care for this place that has held so many of our stories. Christ Church, Walmsley is more than a historic building – it is a home of faith, welcome, comfort, and joy for countless people across the generations.
Your support is helping us to continue that ministry. Every donation given brings us closer to ensuring our church remains safe, warm and welcoming for all who come seeking God’s peace, and we are deeply grateful for the part you have played in securing its future.
Thank you once again for your generosity. With grateful thanks,
Revd. Ian Hepburn
If you have already contributed, thank you! Every donation is greatly appreciated.
| The target is £30,000 and, so far, donations (totalling over £10K) have been received through the ‘Gofundme’ page …and a few by cash donations or bank transfer. Thank you to all who given so generously. |
Christ Church Walmsley, our much-loved village church in the centre of Egerton, is facing an urgent challenge after a leaking pipe flooded the boiler house leaving the building without heating. Due to freezing temperatures, all Sunday services had to be cancelled.
While services are back up and running for now, we still urgently need to raise funds to replace the boiler. The boiler, which has served the church for around 20 years, cannot be repaired because replacement parts are unavailable. A full replacement is urgently needed, and the cost is significant. Previous fundraising efforts have already been used for essential roof repairs, leaving parish funds critically low.
Our Church
Christ Church Walmsley is a cherished place of worship at the heart of the community, hosting regular services for all ages, including many children and families. Most local people will have attended the building weddings, baptisms, funerals, and school services – it is a cornerstone of village life and a historic building that the community treasures.
