A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Peter Reiss

Words from the family:

Thank you for attending today’s celebration of Peter’s life and ministry.

Peter’s family would love to hear your memories of him. **

Heidi, Ayanda, Dan, Joel and Eryn warmly invite you to refreshments, kindly provided by the churches of the Turton Moorland Team Ministry.

Thanks to the Team for their support and to everyone who has made this service possible.

If you would like to give thanks for Peter in a practical way, donations to Bolton Hospice will be greatly appreciated and recognise their care for him. You can donate online at: https://peterreiss.muchloved.com

** If you have a memory of Peter you would like to share, a photograph or a message of support for his family, please send these to: Thanksgiving.Peter.Reiss@gmail.com

It was a beautiful and emotional Service of Thanksgiving for the life of our Team Rector, Canon Peter Reiss, held on Friday 8 March at St. Anne’s Church, Turton, followed by fellowship over cake and a cuppa at St. James’s Church, Edgworth.

The service was a truly fitting tribute to an amazing minister … and a superb send off with wonderful words given so beautifully by ALL the family members.
The service was designed by Peter, with help from his family and from the Venerable Dr. John Applegate, Archdeacon Emeritus, who led the service.
Words for three of the four hymns in the service – chosen by Peter – were written by Peter himself and reflect his passion for justice, friendship and faith for all.

For those who were unable to attend the service, here is a link to watch: https://www.dropbox.com/t/t51ki7r0zj3VCcaL

[Thank you to Nikki Barlow for sharing this direct link to such a wonderful service.]
Also shared here is the very first and only other of Peter’s ‘Facebook Live’ services that was streamed on Mothering Sunday just as we went into Lockdown in 2020: https://youtu.be/Bve81MH5jtA
Nikki comments: “I thought I would share it; we got so much better after this very rough video was so successful!  What a journey.”
And, although the last online service from Peter was over a year ago, all of his recorded services can be accessed and enjoyed  via this link:

May he rest in peace and rise in glory…
