Light a Virtual Candle
Sadly, we can’t light candles, personally, for our loved ones in Church right now – or can we? We want to continue to offer all the things we normally would, or try to – just thinking out of the box a little…
We have a page on the team website with our altar as the backdrop and candles in rows that we hope people will dedicate in memory of their deceased loved ones this Advent. All the Churches in the Team have their own page, you can view these from the Team website homepage. The candles will remain ‘virtually lit’ until January 2nd.
- Each person can have a maximum of 3 candles but each candle should be in memory of a different person.
- You can have two people named on one candle if they shared the same surname.
- Your brief message should be a maximum of 50 characters.
There is no obligation to donate but we would be delighted if you wished to support us. A donation button is on the website. Please have a look at our Light a Virtual Candle page if you would like to have a candle ‘virtually lit’ in memory of your loved one.
To light a virtual candle this Advent, simply email: stanneswithstjames@gmail.com or text 07958 293 971 and include the following:

Links to online services
You can enjoy each Sunday’s ‘virtual service’ led by our Team Rector, Canon Peter Reiss, HERE. As in past weeks, accessing this link will enable you to watch a wonderful, recorded service (also on FaceBook) from 8am on Sunday morning.
From our own Walmsley Parish, we share with you another ‘VIRTUAL EVENING PRAYER’ recorded in church and led this week by Adrian Golland. Jane Dent (former Church Warden) reads from the Old Testament and the New Testament reading is given by John Evans (ALM for Worship).
Worship at Home
Wonderful resources for adults and children are available on the Team Website. New and exciting materials are created each week by Revd Jan Ainsworth, Jan Bennett (ALM for worship) & Jo Haslam (ALM for Youth Ministry + Children Changing Places Project member)
A request from Canon Peter Reiss
Thank you to all who have contributed to the provision of household goods for refugee families. The gift of pans, appliances, bedding or furniture makes such a difference to those who have very little, and the recipients are very grateful.
If you do have kitchen-ware, kitchen utensils, or household goods that you think others might need, we can find a new and good home for them.
A particular request: there is a family with three secondary school age children. Do you have an Xbox or Play Station you no longer use in your family? It would bring such joy to these children. Thank you.
Please let Peter know – 07935395040
