Second Sunday before Lent, 7 February 2021

Send forth your Spirit, O Lord,
and renew the face of the earth.
(Psalm 104)

Dear friends,

As always, our message for you each and every week is for FAITH, HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE.

The ‘Walmsley Parish Newsletter’  includes a message from Reverend Carol Hayden.  (If you are on the mailing list, please let us know that you are still receiving it and that it’s not just going into your junk!!)

Our ‘Walmsley Parish Prayers’ leaflet includes words and reflections from people you will know from our Parish, our wider Team and beyond.

This week, one of the links is a beautiful set of photographs taken by Andrew Sackville of the stained glass windows in Christ Church Walmsley.

Our Team Rector, Canon Peter Reiss is unwell; some sort of winter bug with a cough (several Covid tests have proved negative), hence there is no message from him this week.  We wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers from Walmsley Parish are with him as he – hopefully – tries to take things easier in the coming days… xx

We are grateful to you, Peter, for your loving care to us all across the Turton Moorland Team. Please now take care of yourself. We send you our love, prayers and healing wishes. Peter has still recorded the wonderful weekly online Sunday service; thank you.

Please know that you continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.  Stay safe and keep well.

Love and blessings,

Reverend Carol Hayden, Iain Stewart – Church Warden, Angie Foster – Assistant Church Warden, Dawn Hitchen – Church Warden & Authorised Lay Minister for Pastoral Care

Pray for the Nation

We invite you to pray for our nation every evening this month at 6pm.  In response to reaching the terrible milestone of 100,000 deaths from COVID-19, the Archbishops invite all to call on God in Prayer, setting aside time every evening to pray, particularly at 6pm. More than ever, this is a time when we need to love each other. Prayer is an expression of love.

We remember before God those who have died

and we pray that God’s love will surround all

who mourn them, now and always

More details available HERE.

Virtual Evening Prayer

From our own Walmsley Parish, we share with you another ‘VIRTUAL EVENING PRAYER’, recorded in church and led this week by John Evans (Authorised Lay Minister for Worship) who also gives a reflection. Dawn Hitchen (Church Warden & ALM) reads from the Old Testament, and the New Testament reading is given by Adrian Golland.  Those of you who usually attend Evensong at Christ Church Walmsley may wish to wait until 6.30pm for an element of ‘normality’, but this link is available to watch now: WATCH NOW.

Worship at home

New and exciting ‘Worship at Home’ resources for adults and children are created each week by the worship Team at St. Maxentius.  Available from the Team Website.

Praying with Purpose online Event – Mothers’ Union

Jenny Murphy has shared information about this: MSH have been running online ‘Prayer with Purpose’ sessions, which have been very well received events, so they are putting on an extra one.

This will be 10.00-11.30am on Tuesday 9th February.  We’d be really grateful if you could spread the word to others and share the link for booking the event. It would be wonderful for as many members as possible to benefit from this event.
