17th Sunday after Trinity – 4 October 2020
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’
made his light shine in our hearts to give us
the light of the knowledge of God’s glory
displayed in the face of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6
Dear friends,
We thank everyone in this Parish, and in the wider Turton Moorland Team Ministry, who continue to support us, sharing love and kindness, as we work our way through these strange times. If you wish to share any special kindnesses shown to you, to be included in our ‘Parish News’, please do get in touch.
Thank you for the lovely prayers given by church friends at our Intercessions in Christ Church Walmsley; this week from Sandra Morris and Lorraine Kearney. We are still looking for memories about Walmsley Parish Community Hall to feature in our Newsletter.
We’d love to include more ideas from YOU in this weekly ‘Parish letter’…!!! When we have been isolated for so long it is good to hear from each other so please continue to connect with each other. If you have images / photos for the ‘virtual’ services which are shared across the Turton Moorland Team, please send them to Dawn or directly to Canon Peter Reiss. Thank you.
We hope that the attached Newsletter, Prayers and ‘Worship at Home’ ideas help you to feel connected. If you wish to add anything that would be of interest to other church friends in future mailings, we would LOVE to hear from you. And if you know of anyone who might like to receive the weekly newsletter during this time when we are unable to worship in our churches, please contact Dawn.
FEEL FREE TO PRINT OFF THE NEWSLETTER & PRAYERS FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY IF YOU FEEL IT MAY HELP TO BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY.
Please know that you continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Stay safe and keep well.
Love and blessings,
Reverend Carol Hayden,
Jane Dent – Church Warden
and Dawn Hitchen – Church Warden & Authorised Lay Minister for Pastoral Care
IMPORTANT REMINDER – Annual Parochial Church Meeting
Sunday 18th October 10.30-11.30am (after the 9.30am service at Christ Church Walmsley.)
The APCM is going to be different this year: with masks and socially distanced but it is happening and it is important that the people of Walmsley Parish attend wherever possible. Everyone living in our Parish and on our Church Electoral Roll can attend, vote and have their say.
We are also trying to find a way to live stream this meeting to connect with those who do not yet feel ready to be present in person. (Are there any techno whizz-kids out there who can help with this??)
We welcome new people; there are always tasks to be done for which we would love more volunteers to help. Please support us if you can.
WE WANT TO BE ‘CHURCH FOR A DIFFERENT WORLD’. CAN YOU HELP?
APCM Agenda and supporting documents
Please pray for those who have been doing so much for our parish:
Thank God for them and please thank them;
Please pray what you might offer: Ask God and then please ask how you can help;
Please pray for those who will be appointed to take on key roles in our churches – and continue to pray for them in the coming year, which is not going to be easy or comfortable.
The Electoral Roll
A note from our Electoral Roll Officer, Steve Brannon:
The Church requires us to submit the number of adult parishioners who attend church – our Electoral Roll. If you are already on that Roll, you need do nothing! If you are not sure if you are on the roll, e-mail or telephone 01204 307274 me and I will check and get back to you.
If you wish to be on that roll, download and complete the form below. Please note: the form is for each person not per household; if you have any questions, please just ask. You can return the completed form by e-mail or by post c/o: Walmsley Vicarage, 2, Higher Dunscar, Egerton, Bolton BL7 9TE.
